Review: The Perfect Play by Jaci Burton

Cover-
This is by far one of the best romance cover I have seen. I am somewhat of a football fan, but I find that you don’t have to be a fan to love this cover. I don’t think I have come across one woman who wouldn’t want to touch this cover hoping to get a feel of the man on it. Jed Hill is pretty drool worthy to me. So obviously when I saw the cover I wanted nothing more than to read this book even before I found out what it was about. Then when I read what it was about, I couldn’t wait to read it. I was very lucky to have won my copy on a blog that I adore called As the pages turn. Located here.  So, for those of you that have not heard of this book or that may be wondering what it is about here it is:

Book One in the Play-by-Play Series
Football pro Mick Riley is an all-star, both on the field and in the bedroom. But a sexy, determinedly single mom just might be the one to throw him off his game...
For years Mick has been taking full advantage of the life available to a pro athlete: fame, fortune, and a different girl in every city. But when he meets and beds confident, beautiful event planner Tara Lincoln, he wants much more than the typical one-night stand. Too bad Tara's not interested in getting to know football's most notorious playboy any better.
As the single mother of a teenage son, the last thing Tara needs is the jet-set lifestyle of Mick Riley; even though their steamy and passionate one-night stand was unforgettable. Tara's life is complicated enough without being thrust into the spotlight as Mick's latest girl du jour. Tara played the game of love once and lost big, and she doesn't intend to put herself out there again, especially with a heart-breaker like Mick.
But when Mick sets his mind to win, nothing will stop him. And he has the perfect play in mind.

 Characters-
So we have Mick Riley. I think I fell in love with this man! He is a sexy football star who defiantly knows how to show a girl a good time. He’s funny, charming and an all around gentleman. He defiantly knows how to take care of a woman in and out of the bedroom. He does have a secret though so, prepare yourself. I don’t think I found one thing that I disliked about him.
I had a ton of respect for Tara Lincoln. She is a single mother and despite her past she always puts her son first with everything in her life, including her own happiness. She is a very hard worker and has built her life up from nothing.

Overall story
I absolutely fell in love with this book. The story was very well written. It’s not often that I find a book that I can’t put down, but this was one of them. I literally stayed awake until 5am to finish this book. Jaci Burton really knows how to catch a reader’s attention from the first word to the last. It didn’t take long for this story to come to life in my mind. It was almost like watching a movie. She is truly an amazing writer! I love it when I can find a good romance and the characters make me laugh and Mick totally does that for me. This book does contain a lot of sex. And I mean a LOT of hot, steamy sex. It’s not cheesy though. I never felt like I was reading porn.
I am really excited about the next book to this series. Jaci does set you up for the next book in this one, so you get to see the characters and get a feel for them. As much as I loved Mick I have this feeling that Gavin may be my favorite brother. I will defiantly be adding this series to my list that I buy on release day.

           Favorite quotes or scene-
There was so much that I loved about this book that I can’t choose. The Characters are so real and come to life so easily that I can’t pick one scene or line from the book. But I will give you a little taste of Mick and one of the scenes that I did love.
“What are you doing here? How did you find me?”
“My agent found you. You left without waking me this morning.”
Tara looked around the shop, and it was then that Mick saw three women staring at them and whispering to each other. He heard his name mentioned.
He loved female football fans. He dazzled them with a big smile.
“Hi, ladies.”
Tara dragged him by the arm. “Come into my office.”
He followed her, winking at the three women who gaped at him as he walked by.

My rating- 5 stars

So there you have it. I recommend that if you haven’t read this book to go get a copy and start reading it today!

Where to get

Fun stuff-
Q: How would you act if you had a famous sexy guy on your trail? Would you run away or would you take a leap and give it a shot?

A:  I couldn’t imagine anything like this or any famous guy chasing me. If it happened though, I think would be curious to know. I would totally give a shot and see where it goes.
